A Burlesque Tribute to Stephen King
October 17, 2017 at Rio Theatre
Bad Blood has never felt so right as it did last week when the Geekenders presented Vancouver with another instalment of “We All Float Down Here: A Burlesque Tribute to Stephen King”. Hosted by the tentacle loving Gidget Gravedigger (Voodoo Pixie) and the witty and humorous Aleister Crane the crowd was taken on a burlesque journey through some of Stephen Kings stories with great repertoire.
Although we did not have a reviewer at the show, I can easily tell you that the show was worth every penny, and then a whole bunch more. When I first arrived there was a young fellow trying his best to get in, apparently no access to and money, but pleading that he could not miss a burlesque tribute to Stephen King, and after seeing the show I have to agree with him.
The Geekenders have managed to put on many interesting and lively shows in Vancouver and this was definitely well run and will keep people wanting to come back for more, with one of my favourites being when Carrie had a bucket of blood poured over her and then the burlesque turned into a roaring version of T Swifts “Bad Blood”.
There were many highlights that I should have written down about but I can say that it was the ridiculously awe inspiring performance from Vixen Von Flex for the novel The Mist that garnered a lot of applause from the crowd.
There are some events happening at Wayne Manor in the month to come that you should definitely check out… so look on Facebook for updates.
